We loved the cozy little space from the first day we saw it. It was exactly what we were looking for. So after three months of plastering, stripping, tiling, painting, and finally wallpapering, we opened the doors in November of 2004. It was a labor of love and in many ways, it still is. We're in this business because we love it.
We found vintage wallpaper from the 60's...an orange plaid which we thought was perfect for the dining room. It evoked a feeling of "coming home". It was familiar and welcoming, much like the menu we created, which is essentially a menu of our favorite things. Warm goat cheese and spinach salad, tuna tartare with tubettini, and the classic mac n' cheese with bacon, to name a few.
We have built our business the old-fashioned way – one guest at a time and through word of mouth. We're delighted so many New Yorkers keep returning to 41 because they appreciate the food as much as we love to make it. We have made many friends along the way and look forward to making more in the future.
